Fernando Zulick to Head Referee July 20 Toronto Tournament
Mr. Zulick is credited as one of the most experienced referees currently residing in Canada as well is responsible for not only his own gym but as well as arguably the country’s current biggest and prestigious single Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu event, the Ontario Open. We are excited to be working with Mr. Zulick on the structure of our referee squad to assure that the amount of mistakes made by referees during the day remain as low as possible, and that the referees keep a high level pace going throughout the day in running their areas.
There will be 21 referees on staff to run the 14 mat layout we will be utilizing at the beautiful Ryerson University. The referee staff which has already been assembled for the event is currently tentatively composed of all Ontario referees: 3 black belts, 5 brown belts, 10 purple belts, and 3 blue belts.
We believe more important than any part of an event we put on that the most well structured wing has to be the organization and integrity of the event. With professional organization and integrity being displayed by the event, competitors will truly be able to tell apart the differences between high-grade and low-grade events in how they operate. We might be an event that issues Grand Prize Trips every time we promote but the smoothness of how our event is run through our announcer/bracketer, score tables, and referees is what we hope competitors to truly take notice of.
