
Grappling Industries Toronto – August 8, 2015
Grappling Industries makes its return to Toronto for a Round Robin Gi and NoGi Tournament. The tournament is taking place at Ryerson University’s Kerr Hall Gymnasium!
FORMAT / PROTOCOL:
The event will be round robin, gi and nogi, and follow IBJJF rules.
There are kids, juniors, teens, adults, and masters divisions.
All matches in the round robin and absolute divisions will be 5 minutes.
Submissions will count for 4 points in the round robin, Referee Decisions will count for 2 points, and Draws will count for 1 point. Tie-Breakers will be settled with playoff matches
BONUSES:
There are 8 $300 Cash prizes available! They go to the winners of the following divisions which you must pre-register for ahead of time:
- Male White Belt Absolute
- Male Blue Belt Absolute
- Male Purple Belt Absolute
- Male Brown / Black Belt Absolute
- Male NoGi Absolute
- Female White / Blue Belt Absolute
- Female Purple + Belt Absolute
- Female NoGi Absolute
IMPORTANT NOTE: There must be at least 4 competitors signed up in an absolute for the cash prize in that division to be available!
All the fights from the tournament will be recorded and uploaded a week later on our YouTube channel. There will also be a lot of sponsor giveaways and photographers will be on scene shooting the event! Absolutely beautiful gold, silver, and bronze medals for all divisions!
There will be 18 KIMURAWEAR $75 gift certificates on the line to be won!
EVERY GOLD MEDALIST will win a 10 minute free athletic massage at the tournament from INSTINCTIVE PERFORMANCE!
CHECK-INS & WEIGH-INS:

Toronto CHECK-INS & WEIGH-INS On August 8th (Subject to change on schedule):
>7:30am to 8:45am deadline (All Gi and NoGi Kids and Teens / Adult Gi Absolutes)
>7:30am to 9:45am deadline (Gi Adult and Masters divisions)
>10am to 1:15pm tentative deadline (Adult and Masters NoGi Absolutes and divisions)
*You do not have to weigh-in with your gi on. You only need to weigh-in once if competing in several divisions.
NOTE: Please consult the schedule we release on the Thursday night prior to the event. We cannot yet say for sure when the NoGi (Absolutes, Adults, and Masters) divisions will start until the schedule is created. Tentatively, we plan to start NoGi at 1:30pm with the weigh-ins closing at 1:15pm for them but this might be subject to change depending on if we surpass expectations.
-Kids and Teens Gi as well as the Adult Gi Absolutes will start at 9am followed by Kids and Teens NoGi.
-This will be followed by the Gi Adult and Master divisions.
-Once Gi is almost complete, we will kick off NoGi with the Absolutes followed by the remaining NoGi Adult and Master divisions.
SPECTATORS: Spectator tickets can be bought at the check-in table to our event, where event bracelets can be bought for $15 each. Kids and senior citizens can watch the event for free.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Registration closes Tuesday, August 4th at 11:59pm.
COMPETITOR’S LISTS: Competitor’s lists by division and academy will be posted Wednesday, July 29th and will be updated daily. Note: You will be able to find these lists on our website news feed and Facebook Page!
CHANGE/REFUND DEADLINE: You will have until 5pm on Wednesday, August 5th to make any changes to your registration or to request a refund. You can do this by messaging us on the CONTACT TAB of our website. After this, we apologize but it is too late.
BRACKETS/SCHEDULE: On Thursday, August 6th we will post both the brackets and event schedule. Note: You will be able to find both the brackets and the schedule on our website news feed and Facebook Page!
