The fight will be contested at a catch weight of 145 pounds. If there is no submission, we will declare the fight a draw.
These two purple belts hold very impressive wins over a large part of the pack in eastern Canada, and have both been very impressive as of late in competition.
Steven Shipinkas has been on a tear on the local BJJ scene and was just named CheckMat Canada’s competitor of the year as well as signing a sponsorship contract with Grappling Industries. Gabe Sagaman has been on a tear himself, competing in amateur MMA and winning to heading to California and taking silver in the NoGi worlds.
The two competitors come from stellar teams but have never fought each other. We wanted to make sure that the first time they fought each other, we would be able to catch the magic.
